Buying a Kia:
One of the best things about buying a Kia is that they appeal to the average family. Sure, Kia does have a Sporty model, but a lot of their cars are relatively inexpensive and affordable for the average person. This is one of the main reasons that Kia is such a popular automobile. The company may not make luxury vehicles, but they do have some pretty eye-appealing models and are starting to increase the speed and power in their designs. To help you get a better idea of what Kia has to offer, here are their latest models:
Starting with the cheapest Kia, you will find the Small KIA Rio and the Kia Rio five-door design. This is a very inexpensive family car that has a very low and affordable MSRP, with pretty good fuel economy. It is nice that you can opt for a five-seater design if that is the size that you need for your family. These cars aren’t very fast, but they are reliable and you will have no issue getting from place to place driving a Rio.
Looking at the mid-budget range, you can pick up a Forte at a little bit of a higher cost than a Rio or you can opt to grab a Kia Optima or even a hatchback Kia Rondo. These cars have a little more speed to them, but they still do get some pretty good fuel efficiency. The cars are larger than that of the Rio and maybe what you should go for if you are on a budget and want a little more room than what a Rio has to offer if you still want to stick with a sedan. If not, you could always opt to buy the Niro or the Kia Sportage, which are both very nice family SUVs available for around the same price.
Looking at the top-of-the-line KIAs, you have a few options in both cars and SUVs if you want a Kia. Kia sells the Cadenza as well as the more luxurious K900. These cars have much more horsepower than that of the lower-budget versions and are certainly more fun to drive. You could also go for one of the very top-of-the-line SUVs in the Sorento or if you need even more room Kia does offer a mini-van In the Kia Sedona, which is quite nice for the price.
Pros of Kia Cars:
- Even the top of the line Kia vehicles do not have outrageous MSRP prices, which is good for the average family/ person
- These cars do not have super expensive parts on them, which is great down the road
- One awesome thing about buying a Kia is that they offer a generous 5-year, 100,000 km with each and every vehicle
- These cars are generally pretty fuel-efficient, which is good for your wallet and for the environment
- Kia does offer Hybrids if you want to reduce your emissions
- Packages are available for all models so that you can customize your Kia to your personal tastes
Cons of Kia Cars:
- These cars are not the fastest cars on the road
- Lack of a galvanized body may mean the vehicle rusts over time depending on the climate it’s in
- The large line up of cars may make it difficult to choose a model that you like

Kia and Auto Theft:
Since KIAs are such a popular vehicle, there are obviously thefts each and every year. This does not mean that your car is necessarily a target as Kia doesn’t have the most luxurious interior or anything to encourage theft. However, you may want to be aware that a Kia vehicle was ranked 18th for most stolen this year and had 2.39 cars stolen per 1000. For this reason and so that you don’t have to worry about your investment, you should make sure that you get comprehensive insurance coverage for your Kia so that you don’t have to worry about break-ins, accidents, or your Kia being stolen from you.
Kia and Your Safety:
One reason why Kia has become one of the most popular car brands is due to its low prices. Sometimes when car companies make low-priced cars, they sacrifice some safety in order to do so. Kia is not one of those companies. Kia has quite a number of safety features even in their low-end model the Kia Rio. Here are just some of the things that Kia includes in their design:
Brakes:
On some low-priced vehicles you will find drums rather than discs as a result of it being cheaper to manufacture. Kia insists on using discs even in its low-end Rio design, which just goes to show that they want their customers to have the best brakes possible and be able to stop no matter the situation.
Mirrors:
Being able to see what is around you is extremely important when you are driving. Often times if you are driving in wet and rainy conditions, you will find that your mirrors end up fogging, which results in you not being able to see as well on the road. Luckily, Kia thought about this as they made their mirrors heated to avoid fog and to make sure that the driver will be able to see behind them and what is around them at all times.
Air Bag Deployment:
On some models of cars, you will just find a front airbag for the driver and the passenger. Unfortunately, this does not protect you very well if you happen to get side-swiped by a vehicle. For this reason, Kia has side airbag deployment, which is always good to know for some peace when driving.
Safety Ratings for a Kia:
Due to the high popularity and low MSRP prices of Kia vehicles, Kia vehicles do get tested to see how they do in crashes. This is a great way to determine if you like a vehicle as it can give you a rough idea of how you will end up afterward if you were in an accident. Here are the results for some popular models courtesy of the IIHS.
